Multimedia Production Editor, 12 month fixed term contract (up to £40,000)

About the role

Good Food is the No.1 food media brand in the UK, having established its place over 35 years on the newsstand. In this role you will sub-edit magazine and digital content for Good Food as well as for other titles in the portfolio. You will also take on chief sub-editor duties on some associated magazines (Easy Cook, Home Cooking Series or the Good Food Collection) and manage production from planning stages through to print. 

As a Multimedia Production Editor you will;

  • Sub-editing recipes and features for both digital and print, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and accessibility for diverse audiences
  • Acting as a guardian of house style to maintain a consistent tone of voice and editorial standards across all platforms
  • Overseeing production on Good Food magazine titles, managing deadlines, approvals, and editorial workflow
  • Managing flatplans to balance editorial, recipe, and commercial content across each issue
  • Sourcing book extracts and negotiating rights with publishers to enhance magazine features
  • Proofing pages for press, ensuring accuracy of copy, captions, credits, and design elements before final sign-off
  • Writing engaging, SEO-friendly headlines for both print and digital, including Apple News, tailored for platform and audience
  • Managing freelancers, including commissioning, briefing, editing, and providing feedback where required
  • Collaborating with designers, editors, and commercial teams to deliver high-quality content to tight deadlines

Requirements

  • A sharp eye for detail
  • Keen editorial judgment
  • Experience in editing pages using InDesign
  • Experience in using a CMS (WordPress)
  • Strong grasp of SEO requirements
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Demonstrable passion for food
  • Experience with Rhapsody systems is desirable
