Good Food reveals the winners of its Summer Supermarket Taste Test Awards

Good Food has revealed the winners of the hotly contested Good Food Summer Taste Awards 2025. The Good Food panel of experts blind-tasted more than 140 products submitted by 12 UK supermarkets across 16 categories. The rigorous testing sees all packaging removed, the products prepared by a home economist according to packet instructions, and judging overseen by an independent adjudicator.

The winners showcase the very best in flavour, texture and innovation available in supermarkets across the UK and there were standout performances across the board – with Co-op winning four top spots for Best burger buns, Best coleslaw, and Best vegetarian picnic pastry, as well as a joint win in the coveted Best sausage roll category. Tesco proved a barbecue favourite, securing Best sausages, joint Best burgers, and Best fish or seafood BBQ hero.

Aldi and Lidl also had three wins, with Aldi scooping Best vegan sausages, Best BBQ meat hero, and Best sharing bread, and Lidl winning Best vegan burgers, a joint win for Best sausage roll, and the title of Best picnic centrepiece with its luxurious maple bacon quiche.  Waitrose shone in the deli and plant-based departments, taking Best veggie burgers, Best antipasti platter, and Best hummus. Sainsbury’s landed a joint win for Best burgers with its Aberdeen Angus patties, while Morrisons made its mark with its Tandoori Chicken Kebab, earning the Best meat or fish kebab title.
