About Takeover
What is a Takeover?
A desktop-only concept that offers maximum impact, a takeover combines a background skin creative with standard display units.
Please note that only Billboard, Leaderboard and Mobile banner formats CAN be served on Digital Advertorial pages. DMPU and MPU formats (plus non-Standard display ad formats such as Interscrollers) CANNOT be served on Advertorials.
Creative requirements
Ad units
- See Standard display for individual ad unit specs. Your takeover should contain 1x Billboard or Leaderboard and 1x DMPU or MPU. A Mobile banner can replace the Billboard/Leaderboard on mobile devices where the skin is not visible.
The skin
- Dimensions: 1700x1100px (1800x1200px on Top Gear).
- File type: jpg, png.
- Max file size (initial load): 150kb.
- We advise not to place logos or text on the skin image, please allow the ad units to provide the call to action.
- Keep important imagery within the gutter zone, so it is visible on smaller screens.
- Always blend the bottom of the skin creative to a solid colour. The site background colour can then be matched to this.
What’s the process?
Please complete the briefing form and supply all necessary assets. If these assets include your own fonts, please provide a third party licence giving us permission to use. If you wish us to design/build (recommended), no further action is required at this stage and you will subsequently be provided with mock-ups of your ads for approval. If you prefer to design your own ad(s) then please supply the completed files to the relevant spec(s) specified above/in the template psd. If you wish to design and build your own ads then please provide the finished ad(s), adhering to the file size requirements set out, in an acceptable format (gif, jpg, png, or HTML5). Please outline/provide any tracking requirements.
If choosing HTML5, we recommend using Google Web Designer (free) to build. Click here for more information on producing HTML5 creative.
All advertisements are subject to approval prior to start of campaign. Immediate Media reserves the right to refuse any advertisements that do not comply with the specification laid out in this document.
