About the role
Radio Times is seeking a dynamic and passionate Soaps Editor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be deeply knowledgeable about UK TV soaps and the broader entertainment landscape. This role involves creating engaging digital content and keeping our audience informed and entertained with the latest developments in this genre.

As a Soaps Editor you will:
- Lead and manage Radio Times’ coverage of UK TV soaps.
- Create, edit, and oversee the production of high-quality content, including news, interviews, and features.
- Develop and implement editorial strategies to increase reader engagement and site traffic.
- Collaborate with the social media team to create and promote content and engage with our audience across platforms.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest news trends in TV soaps, ensuring our content is current and relevant.
- Work with data and audience development teams to analyse performance metrics and adapt content strategies accordingly.
- Build and maintain relationships with broadcasters, production companies, and PR agencies to secure and deliver exclusive content and interviews.
- Manage a freelance budget effectively, ensuring a wide variety and diversity of content and contributors.
- Work towards a video first approach to content creation fuelling other content formats such as written word, audio and visual content including presenting video content.
Requirements
- Proven experience in journalism, content creation, or a similar role, particularly in soaps, entertainment or television.
- Demonstrable experience in creation and presentation of video
- Demonstrable experience of using data to develop content strategy
- Strong knowledge of UK television soaps and the wider entertainment industry.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
